J. Jayasree et Cs. Narayanan, BINARY OXIDE CATALYSTS OF ALUMINA RARE-EARTH-OXIDES .1., Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 68(1), 1995, pp. 84-88
Binary oxides of alumina with rare earths like europium, samarium, pra
seodymium, neodymium, and yttrium were prepared by coprecipitation fro
m corresponding nitrates. The composition, thermal stability, and surf
ace properties of the catalysts were determined using XRD, TGA, XPS, a
nd MAS(27)AlNMR. Surface area and pore size of the catalysts were dete
rmined by BET and mercury porosimetry. The catalysts were found to be
amorphous and aluminium atom showed tetrahedral and octahedral coordin
ation in its lattice. Catalysts showed weak to moderate acidity and ba
sicity.
