POLYPROPYLENE TALC COMPOSITES - INTERFACIAL MODIFICATIONS BY SURFACE TREATMENTS ON THE SOLID PARTICLES

Changes in the mechanical properties of the polypropylene/talc composi tes induced by different interfacial modifications are presented. The nature of the interfacial modifications of the surface particle based on analytical characterization of the talc samples is discussed. The r esults are in good agreement with the macroscopic behavior, i.e. varia tions found in the mechanical properties of the composites. Much bette r performance is obtained from this point of view in the modified syst em as compared to the unmodified one.
