The effect of various concentrations (3, 10, 50, 100, and 400 mg.l(-1)
of nutrient medium) of CU2+ ions applied as CuSO4 on growth of root s
ystem of Agrostis stolonifera L., the accumulation of Cu2+ ions in the
root system, and the changes of inhibitors and cytokinins were examin
ed. Highly increased concentrations of CU2+ ions markedly inhibited th
e growth of roots. Inhibition of these processes correlated with chang
es in the level of free cytokinins and inhibitors. Absorbance of Cu2into the roots correlated with the concentration of CuSO4 in the nutri
ent medium.
