L. Bilisics et al., ON THE POSSIBLE PARTICIPATION OF UDP-D-GLUCOSE 4-EPIMERASE AND SOME NADP-DEPENDENT DEHYDROGENASES IN SPRUCE TISSUE ORGANIZATION, BIOLOGIA, 49(6), 1994, pp. 911-915
The interaction between the UDP-D-glucose 4-epimerase (UDPGE-4, EC 5.1
.3.2), glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH, EC 1.1.1.49) and NADP
-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICDH, EC 1.1.1.42) activities in
the biochemistry of three differently organized spruce tissues - callu
s, organogenic tissue culture, and seedlings was investigated. The hig
hest level of UDPGE-4 and the lowest of dehydrogenases characterize th
e organogenic tissue. The activities of these enzymes in seedlings wer
e in opposite relation. In nonorganogenic calli very low activities of
all enzymes were observed. The results indicate a dependence of NADPH
and UDPGal production on the stage of tissues organization.
