Cd. Pruett, A SEMIIMPLICIT METHOD FOR INTERNAL BOUNDARY-LAYERS IN COMPRESSIBLE FLOWS, Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, 137(3-4), 1996, pp. 379-393
A semi-implicit boundary-layer method is developed for application to
spatially evolving internal boundary layers in compressible fluids. Th
e method circumvents convergence difficulties that may arise with full
y implicit marching schemes whenever the mean streamwise velocity prof
ile is inflectional. The method is demonstrated for the special case o
f the compressible, laminar axisymmetric jet. However, the properties
of the scheme make it well suited also to laminar or turbulent free sh
ear layers, wakes and planar jets.
