Abstract
Healing of soft and hard tissues results from a progression of events initiated by injury and directed toward reestablishing normal structur e and function. The ubiquity of proteoglycans in mammalian tissues vir tually guarantees their involvement in tissue restitution. The dramati c advances in cellular and molecular biology in recent years have adde d significantly to understanding the specific roles played by proteogl ycans in wound repair processes.
