Abstract
The seismic hazard parameters of the Vrancea seismogenic region are de rived by applying a probabilistic model (the Epstein-Lomnitz model) ma king use of the first type of Gumbel distribution. The extreme value d ata are of two types: macroseismic data (1901-1933) and instrumental d ata (1934-1991). The output parameters (In alpha = 8.30; beta = 1.67), for the set I and (In alpha = 9.33; beta = 1.87) for the set II allow a more reliable estimation of the basic hazard parameters and they ar e discussed and compared with previous works.
