Abstract
The synthesis of (+/-)-eudesma-5,7(11)-dien-8-one 5 was accomplished i n 5 steps from the known octalone 6. Reduction of the enone 5 with LAH followed by acetylation, furnished the mixture of (+/-)-coralloidin-A (11) and its C-8 epimer 12 in a ratio 2:1.
