Abstract
This paper discusses radiation-scattering mechanisms in an optical sys tem. A numerical method for calculating the background illumination in the focal plane of an optical system is explained. The dependence of the background illumination on the angle at which the radiation acts h as been calculated. The results are compared with the calculations of other authors.
