Abstract
We evaluated histopathological changes of internal mammary grafts of 4 0 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. Atherosclerotic changes turned out to be independent of risk factors and did not incr ease with age. Therefore, we conclude that internal mammary bypass gra fting should be the therapy of choice even in elder patients because o f its advantage concerning long-term patency rate.
