Sj. Lee et al., SELF-PHASE MODULATION BY MEANS OF RESONANT CASCADED SURFACE-EMITTING 2ND-HARMONIC GENERATION, Journal of the Optical Society of America. B, Optical physics, 12(2), 1995, pp. 275-280
The interaction of four waves in the resonant cascaded surface-emittin
g second-harmonic-generation structure is analyzed theoretically. The
inherent waveguide birefringence is shown to result in the large self-
phase modulation as well as in the self-rotation of the polarization d
irection. The equivalent nonlinear index of refraction is calculated,
and the potential device applications are considered.
