Ma. Rahman et al., PRODUCTION OF FUEL GRADE ETHANOL FROM DILUTE-SOLUTION BY LIQUID-LIQUID-EXTRACTION USING VEGETABLE-OILS AS SOLVENTS, INDIAN JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, 2(2), 1995, pp. 90-92
A process for separating ethanol and water by liquid-liquid extraction
using vegetable oils as solvents is presented. Effects of various fac
tors such as temperature, time, feed concentration and phase ratio on
the amount of extraction have been studied. Effects of cooling tempera
ture and cooling time on the recovery of ethanol from oil have also be
en studied. The maximum extraction has been observed within 5 min of c
ontact time at 95-degrees-C. Recovery of ethanol from oil has been fou
nd to increase with cooling.
