C. Letellier et al., BIOLOGICAL-ACTIVITY OF FENOXYCARB AGAINST SITOPHILUS-ZEAMAIS MOTSCH (COLEOPTERA, CURCULIONIDAE), Journal of Stored Products Research, 31(1), 1995, pp. 37-42
The effectiveness of fenoxycarb was tested on the development and repr
oductive biology of Sitophilus zeamais. After 3 weeks exposure to grai
n treated at 10 mg/kg, there was 45.5% adult mortality and 95% inhibit
ion of progeny. Adults were not sterilized as no reduction of F2 proge
ny was observed when F1 adults were transferred to untreated grain. Ne
vertheless, fenoxycarb reduced oviposition at 10 mg/kg. Hidden immatur
e stages were affected only when treatment took place on grain within
2 weeks of oviposition. Progeny in grain treated with 1 mg/kg fenoxyca
rb were unaffected at any age.
