A current approach to the fight against cancer: ''specialist-based can
cer care''. The example of gynaecological and mammary oncology in Regi
onal Hospital Centres, The early diagnosis is the more efficient means
to improve the overall survival of patients with cancer, The modern m
ethods of diagnosis developed by specialists of cancer arising in a pa
rticular site, and by radiologists and pathologists, enable to more of
ten diagnose precancerous lesions and cancer at an early stage. This s
mall lesions can be cured by limited and conservative treatment. Howev
er, the diagnosis, the accurate evaluation and optimal treatment of th
ese lesions require a perfect and specific knowledge of the pathology
of a particular organ. According to the experience of gynecology and b
reast oncology, the author recommends guidelines for the diagnosis and
the primary treatments of cancer proceded in public hospitals. Patien
ts care is managed in unit, including medical staff sub-specialized in
oncology of a specific organ. This structure warrants the best qualit
y of the diagnosis means and of the medical care at a lowest cost.
