Abstract
Sections of the elongation zones of primary roots and mesocotyls of Ze a mays L. were incubated with various concentrations of human epiderma l growth factor (EGF). The growth rates of root sections incubated wit h 1,000, 100 and 10 mu g liter(-1) EGF were higher than that of contro l by 15%, 26% and 14%, respectively. The rates of mesocotyl sections i ncubated with 100, 10, 1.0 and 0.1 mu g liter(-1) EGF were 23%, 31%, 2 4% and 22% higher than that of control.
