CHARACTERIZATIONS OF A PYRROLE CONTAINING ALKYLAMMONIUM GROUP, ELECTROPOLYMERIZED AS THIN-FILM

Polypyrrole films containing alkylammonium groups have been deposited on ITO transparent electrodes and platinum electrodes. The thickness o f the deposit of polymer versus the amount of charge involved in the e lectropolymerization reaction has been evaluated. These polymers exhib it anion-exchange behaviour that has been assessed with ferricyanide a nd pertechnetate ions by applying electrochemical and nuclear methods (isotopic dilution, PIXE and RBS). The high affinity of the polymer fo r the ferricyanide complex should allow the nse of such films in order to incorporate actinides.
