Abstract
Kinetic resolution via a Sharpless epoxidation serves as the key step to provide the useful C-2 chiral auxiliaries (R,R)- and (S,S)-1,3-diph enylpropane-1 ,3-diols, in good yield and high enantiomeric purity fro m the commercially available 1,3-diphenylprop-1-en-3-one.
