Abstract
Inbred crosses through three generations and reciprocal backcrosses th rough five generations using Helicoverpa tea (Boddie) from Stoneville, MS, and H. armigera (Boddie) from Tashkent, Russia, were studied for backcross sterility. A high percentage of mated females reproducing in dicated a high degree of genetic compatibility between the two species . No indication of backcross sterility was detected in these studies.
