Abstract
In a rapidly changing healthcare environment, the leadership behavior of chief nurse executives is essential to the organizations they manag e. The author describes the leadership behavior of a group of female n urse executives who share perspectives on their life/career developmen t. Themes discussed are progressive leadship and power, transformation al leadership, cyclic mentorship, macro-organizational perspective, an d competition and achievement.
