Sy. Lin, VIBRATION ANALYSIS AND FREQUENCY EQUATION FOR AN ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER CONSISTING OF A LONGITUDINAL VIBRATOR AND A FLEXURAL CIRCULAR PLATE, Acustica, 81(1), 1995, pp. 53-57
A transducer for producing ultrasonic radiation in gases is studied. T
he transducer consists of a circular plate in flexural vibration and a
longitudinal electromechanical vibrator which is attached to the cent
re of the plate. The vibration mode of the transducer was analyzed. Th
e equivalent circuit of the transducer was presented and the frequency
equation derived. The analysis shows that the equivalent circuit meth
od is very useful in analyzing the vibration mode and the resonant fre
quency of the transducer. Two such transducers were designed according
to the frequency equation and their resonant frequencies and displace
ment distributions were measured. The measured resonant frequencies we
re in good agreement with the theoretical frequencies.
