Abstract
This new study on amino-11-undecanoic acid (A11U) leads to the structu ral unit C11H23NO2.1.5H(2)O in normal conditions and the corresponding saturated water-vapour pressure. It crystallizes in the monoclinic sp ace group C2/c with a=15.940(4), b=4.714(2), c=35.436(5)Angstrom, beta = 98.2(1)degrees and Z=8. The structure determined using single-crysta l X-ray diffraction direct methods has been refined to R = 0.069 for 8 42 reflections. X-ray powder diffraction diagrams for the hydrous and the anhydrous phases are given and indexed with, respectively, 106 and 39 diffraction peaks.
