Abstract
The proposed tree structure for image coding exploits the similarity b etween hierarchical bands of the wavelet transform. Each node has a he ight attribute and the tree structure is represented as a conditional height difference to remove the statistical dependency between hierarc hical nodes. For the 512 x 512 Lena image, the result shows above 40dB at 1 bit/pixel.
