CHARACTERIZATION OF A CDNA-ENCODING FRUCTOKINASE FROM POTATO (SOLANUM-TUBEROSUM L)

Using an in vitro transcription/translation system, functional evidenc e has been obtained that a cDNA done isolated from a potato stolen tip library encodes the enzyme fructokinase. Expression of the gene has b een determined in a range of potato tissues at different developmental stages. The gene is shown to be present in low copy number in the pot ato genome and in the genome of related non-tuberising species.
