The infinite mass effective theory, when the heavy quark mass tends to
infinity, and chiral perturbation theory at the quark level, based on
the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, are applied for the theoretica
l exploration of strong and electromagnetic decays of D-mesons. The t
heoretical results are in good agreement with experimental data. The i
mportant role of light current quark mass corrections is argued.
