Abstract
In this study, a total of 160 children aged between 6 and 16 years wer e examined. They were divided into two groups. First group suffered fr om insulin-dependent diabetes. The other group were healthy control su bjects. Slightly higher risk of dental caries in diseased children was recorded probably due to the systemic influence of the disease. Suffi cient metabolic regulation of disease significantly reduced the risk o f dental caries, although the certain risk was still present. Better d ental treatment in diseased children's group can be explained through discipline and altered lifestyle of such patients.
