Abstract
For diagnose of impaired glucose tolerance (IT) and gestational diabet es (GD) we used oGTT as recommended WHO, which is applied between 20-2 8th weeks of gestation. We analyzed 124 pregnant women with IT and 34 pregnant women with GD. In the group of women younger than 20 years of age, nine patients had IT; in those who were 20-24 years of age IT wa s found in 14 patients and 5 patients had GD. In the third group which consisted of those of 30-34 years of age 32 patients had IT and 5 pat ients developed GD. In the older studied group (35-39 years of age) 14 patients had IT and one patient had GD. Increased incidence of IT and GD was found in older pregnant patients. It is important to stress th at 57% patients with IT and 57% patients with GD were less than 30 yea rs old. It was not found any statistically significant difference in b irthweight between patients who received insulin and who were on diet only. The incidence of preterm deliveries was 13.9%. There was no stil lbirth and neonatal death.
