The author has proposed a differential quadrature element method (DQEM
) for numerically solving continuum mechanics problems. This method em
ploys the differential quadrature (DQ) technique to discretize the ele
ment-based governing differential or partial differential equations, t
he transition conditions on inter-element boundaries and the boundary
conditions on domain boundaries. A global algebraic equation system ca
n be obtained by assembling all of the discretized equations. A rigoro
us solution can be obtained by solving the global algebraic equation s
ystem. In this paper, the developed two-dimensional DQEM frame model i
s presented. Mathematical formulations are carried out. The procedures
of numerical algorithm are summarized. By using this DQEM model, accu
rate results of two-dimensional frame problems can be efficiently obta
ined. Numerical results demonstrate this DQEM model. Copyright (C) 199
