Abstract
We present a calculation on the squeezing performance of a quadratic n onlinear medium in which the phase-matching condition is achieved arti ficially by a periodic poling of the nonlinear susceptibility. We trea t in particular the Kerr-like effect due to cascading of two second-or der nonlinearities. We show that interesting performance can be achiev ed for highly integrable and nonlinear materials, by use of technologi es already developed. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
