Specific features of oscillation regimes in lasers with intracavity op
tical delay Lines (ODLs) are considered. The use of ODLs is shown to p
rovide the opportunity to extend the functional potentialities of such
lasers. Methods for calculating the parameters of optical cavities wi
th ODLs are considered. It is demonstrated that an increase in the eff
ective cavity length may not only result in quantitative variations in
output laser parameters but may also lead to qualitative changes in o
scillation regimes. The main properties of lasers of various types (so
lid-state, gas, and Raman lasers) with intracavity ODLs are considered
. Possible applications of such lasers ate analyzed.
