Abstract
In recent years legislative and administrative action has reduced educ ational opportunities for offenders. What probably has had the most ad verse impact on correctional education is the elimination of inmate el igibility for Pell Grant funding. Authors Richard Tewksbury and Jon Ma rc Taylor examine the effects of the reduction or elimination of finan cial aid on post-secondary correctional education programs and present the findings of a survey of state correctional education directors. R esults revealed that the elimination of Pell Grant funding for incarce rated students has had profound effects on post-secondary correctional education programming across the nation.
