W. Zamachowski, THE 2-PHASE COURSE OF CHANGES IN THE WEIGHT OF REPRODUCTIVE-ORGANS INTHE FEMALE RANA-LESSONAE CAM DURING ITS ACTIVE LIFE, Acta Biologica Cracoviensia. Series Zoologia, 36, 1994, pp. 23-29
The weight of ovaries and oviducts was examined in the sexually mature
females of Rana lessonae Cam. in 7 periods of their active life. Ther
e were changes in the weight of reproductive organs (''F'' at 8/107 de
grees of freedom is 136.1 for ovaries and 78.7 for oviducts; P <0.001)
. The greatest weight of both the ovaries and oviducts was noted befor
e the ovulation (3rd decade of May), while the least after the breedin
g period and laying eggs (1st decade of June). A considerable increase
in the weight of ovaries was recorded in the 2nd decade of July, whil
e in the oviducts in the 1st decade of September. In September the rep
roductive organ reaches two thirds of its maximum weight. The weight o
f ovaries is 1.7-2.6 times as great as that of oviducts. The course of
development of the female reproductive organ in R. lessonae is simila
r to that in R. esculenta.
