Ms. Guellouz et S. Tavoularis, A SIMPLE PENDULUM TECHNIQUE FOR THE CALIBRATION OF HOT-WIRE ANEMOMETERS OVER LOW-VELOCITY RANGES, Experiments in fluids, 18(3), 1995, pp. 199-203
A method for low velocity calibration of hot-wire anemometers, in whic
h the probe is mounted on a pendulum arm, is presented. The calibratio
n constants are determined from recorded traces of the anemometer sign
al obtained in the forward swing of the pendulum with the probe mounte
d at two different radii along the arm. Typical calibration results ar
e presented and the use of a modified King's law in the low Reynolds n
umber range is discussed.
