The photooxidation of organic sulphides with excited Ru(bpz)(3)(2+) (b pz=2,2'-bipyrazine) results in the formation of sulphoxides and sulpho nes in aqueous CH3CN and the reaction proceeds via an electron transfe r mechanism. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
