Ga. Tsirlina et al., SORPTION OF DEUTERIUM AND PROTIUM BY PALLADIUM UNDER EQUILIBRIUM CONDITIONS FROM SOLUTIONS OF MIXED ISOTOPE COMPOSITION, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 31(1), 1995, pp. 20-24
Equilibrium galvanostatic curves are obtained for hydrogen desorption
from hydride P-phases of mixed isotope composition that are formed in
(0.5 - x) M H2SO4 + x M D2SO4 solutions in mixtures of H2O and D2O (10
0x mol %, 0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.5). The co
rresponding sorption isoterms are calculated. They are characterized b
y a shift in the direction of smaller atomic ratios (H + D)/Pd in the
beta-phase region and by a decrease in the equilibrium potential of th
e alpha reversible arrow beta transition with an increase in x. A new
method is proposed for determining the isotope separation factor in th
e system liquid-palladium (S-Pd(l)) on the basis of the NMR method. Fo
r the case of the beta-phase of palladium hydride at x = 0.25, a value
S-Pd(l) = 4.1 +/- 0.4 is obtained.
