Abstract
X-ray and EXAFS data reveal that the metal skeleton in the palladium c arbonyl acetate cluster, Pd-4(CO)(4)(OAc)(4), undergoes significant ch anges upon replacement of the CO and AcO groups. The rectangular skele ton rearranges into a square one when Pd-4(CO)(4)(OAc)(4) is stored at room temperature, showing non-rigity of the cluster core and the abil ity of the ligands to migrate.
