Wd. Jones et al., BOND-CLEAVAGE REACTIONS IN OXYGEN AND NITROGEN-HETEROCYCLES BY A RHODIUM PHOSPHINE COMPLEX, Organometallics, 14(2), 1995, pp. 855-861
The reactions of (C(5)Me(5))Rh(PMe(3))PhH with furan, 2,5-dimethylfura
n, 2,3-dihydrofuran, dibenzofuran, pyrrole, 1-methylpyrrole, 2,5-dimet
hylpyrrole, 1,2,5-trimethylpyrrole, carbazole, 9-methylcarbazole, pyrr
olidine, pyridine, 3,5-lutidine, 2,4,6-collidine, pyrazole, 3-methylpy
razole, and piperidine have been investigated. While the oxygen hetero
cycles give only C-H activation, the nitrogen heterocycles yield C-H a
nd N-H insertion products. The chloro derivative (C(5)Me(5))Rh(PMe(3))
[2-(1-methylpyrrole)]Cl was found to crystallize in the monoclinic spa
ce group C2/c with a = 13.753 (6) Angstrom, b = 9.665 (5) Angstrom, c
= 30.14 (2) Angstrom, beta = 99.77 (5)degrees, Z = 8, and V = 3949 (4.
1) Angstrom(3) while (C(5)Me(5))Rh(PMe(3))[2-(3,5-lutidine)]Cl was fou
nd to crystallize in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with a = 14.97
6 (8) Angstrom, b = 8.613 (5) Angstrom, c = 17.12 (2) Angstrom, beta =
101.90 (6)degrees, Z = 4, and V = 2160 (5.2) Angstrom(3).
