Ls. Kimsey, REEXAMINATION OF THE ARIPHRON GENERIC GROUP OF THYNNINE WASPS (HYMENOPTERA, TIPHIIDAE), Australian journal of entomology, 35, 1996, pp. 303-311
The relationships, status and composition of the genera Ariphron and T
achynomia are re-examined. Two new genera, Tachynoides and Takyomyia,
are described to include species previously placed in Tachynomia and A
riphron. Ariphron is the sister group of the other three, and of the r
emaining three genera the relationships are: Tachynoides + (Tachynomia
+ Takyomyia). New synonymies include: Ariphron rigidulus Turner under
A. bicolor Erichson; Ariphron fervidus Erichson under Agriomyia abdom
inalis Guerin; Aelurus pilosulus (Smith) under Thynnus adusta (Smith);
and Thynnus schroederi Dalla Torre, Thynnus punctata Smith and Thynnu
s schoberi Dalla Torre under Tachynomia dentata (Smith). Ariphron bico
lor propodealis Rohwer is elevated to species status, as Ariphron prop
odealis.
