A novel electromagnetic controlled needle valve stationary mercury dro
p electrode, allowing formation of mercury drops of macro- to micro-si
ze ranges (200 mu m > r greater than or equal to 25 mu m), has been de
veloped. Cyclic voltammograms and anodic stripping voltammetry measure
ments for the smaller drops (r < 50 mu m) were consistent with microel
ectrode behaviour. Another attractive feature is that the electrode ma
y be used in any position thus enabling its use in now through systems
