Plasma wall interactions under conditions simulating ITER hard disrupt
ions and ELMs are studied at the plasma gun facilities 2MK-200 CUSP an
d MK-200 UG at Troitsk. The experimental data for carbon plasma shield
s are used for validation of the theoretical modeling of the plasma wa
ll interaction. The important features of the non-LTE plasma shield su
ch as temperature and density distribution, its evolution and the conv
ersion efficiency of the energy of the plasma stream into total and so
ft x-ray radiation from highly ionized evaporated target material and
the energy balance are reproduced quite well. Thus a realistic modelli
ng of ITER disruptive plasma wall interaction using the validated mode
ls is now possible.
