Abstract
The concepts of p-independence and basic subgroups for abelian groups are introduced for fuzzy subgroups. The notions of basic fuzzy subgrou ps and direct sums of fuzzy subgroups are used to determine a system o f invariants for certain fuzzy subgroups.
