Nineteen new laser lines in the 11-mu m wavelength region have been ob
served in cw oscillation from a CO2 laser with a high-Q, high-resoluti
on cavity at a higher than usual current density. The frequency of eac
h line has been measured using heterodyne frequency measurement techni
ques. Analysis of the frequencies showns that 15 lines are rotation-vi
bration transitions of the 01(1)2-[11(1)1, 03(1)1](I) band (the first
sequence hot band) of the CO2 molecule and four lines belong to the ro
tation-vibration transitions of the 02(2)1-[12(2)0, 04(2)0](I) band of
CO2.
