T. Bacic et A. Ledic, CHANGES OF PIGMENTS CONTENT IN NEEDLES OF PINUS-HALEPENSIS MILL, Acta Biologica Cracoviensia. Series Botanica, 34-5, 1992, pp. 71-77
Content of chlorophylls a and b and of carotenoids has been investigat
ed spectrophotometrically in needles of Pinus halepensis during the ye
ar, in polluted and unpolluted localities. Concentrations of all pigme
nts were low in general; they fluctuated monthly and showed a tendency
to decrease in the needles from polluted sites. The decrease appears
to correspond with the level of air pollution. The chlorophylls a:b ra
tio, however, could apparently not be considered as time and degree of
site pollution dependent.
