The current demand for environmentally degradable composites has initi
ated the use of novel biodegradable copolyamides reinforced with E-gla
ss fibres by using the hand lay-up technique. Differential thermal ana
lysis, wide-angle X-ray diffraction patterns and density measurements
were employed for the characterization of polymeric composites. The th
ermal properties of composites, namely T-g and T-m, were determined us
ing differential thermal analysis and dynamic mechanical thermal analy
ser measurements. The stress-strain curves and compression strength me
asurements were recorded and correlated with the glass fibre, void and
amino acid content of the copolymers.
