Abstract
The Norrish type I cleavage overwhelms the type II cleavage in the pho tolysis of alpha-alkylcycloalkanones bearing an SiMe(3), SiMe(2)Ph, Si MePh(2), or SiPh(3) group at the beta position, of which the quantum y ields are often greater than those of the non-silylated cycloalkanones .
