This paper adopts an historical perspective to view the development of
business gaming software in the United Kingdom, It argues that, given
its use and evolution over three decades, studying this particular so
ftware type can generate insights that can be transferred to education
al software in general. It also highlights the extent of user-develope
d software and the accompanying impact on the availability of technolo
gy to the user.
