D. Ferri et al., A COMBINED POTENTIOMETRIC-COULOMETRIC METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF URANIUM IN CARBONATE MEDIA, Annali di chimica, 84(7-8), 1994, pp. 283-293
A potentiometric method for the determination of uranium is described.
The method is based on the measurement of the potential of Pt and/or
Hg electrodes in carbonate solutions of U(VI) and U(V). The potential
arises from the electrochemical reaction UO2(CO3)3(4-) + e- = UO2(CO3)
3(5-) The ratio [UO2(CO3)3(4-)]/[UO2(CO3)3(5-)] is changed coulometric
ally by reducing U(VI) to U(V) on a Hg cathode. The method is caracter
ized by high precision. The average relative error amounts to about 0.
2%.
