Abstract
The pathogenesis of urinary tract infections involves the ascent of ba cteria into the urinary tract, establishment of significant bacteriuri a and the induction of a host response. This review summarizes studies that have been published over the past year on aspects of bacterial a dherence, hemolysin, invasion, induction of cytokine responses, mechan isms of neutrophil recruitment and the treatment of urinary tract infe ctions.
