Abstract
By transmission electron microscopy (TEM), tubulovesicular elements we re seen in Blastocystis hominis obtained from the caecum of experiment ally-infected rats. These appeared to arise from the peripheral cytopl asm and were rounded, oval or elongate in sections. It is suggested th at these elements form a network for transfer of nutrients to the peri phery during the process of encystation.
