A new host and geographic distribution record is reported for tetrathy
ridia of Mesocestoides sp. in 1 of 12 (8%) specimens of barking geckos
, Ptenopus garrulus maculatus, from Namibia, South West Africa. The in
fected host had numerous tetrathyridia encapsulated in the liver and m
esenteries. Further examination failed to demonstrate morphological fe
atures indicative of asexual proliferation in these tetrathyridia. A s
ummary is provided of the Old World lizards thought to be hosts of tet
rathyridia of Mesocestoides sp.
