Abstract
This article examines three novels in order to provide a new perspecti ve on traditional gerontological studies of caregiving and the public policies they generate. All three novels challenge the model of caregi vers as rational calculators and the fixed, static notion of caregivin g that underlies cross-sectional research. The novels also highlight t he importance of paying greater attention to the particularities of in dividual experience.
